All about me

Creative Lead | Graphic Designer

Hello, I am Kaye, a highly experienced and passionate multimedia graphic designer, illustrator and branding specialist with over eighteen years of industry experience.

I have a highly desired and varied skill set that allows me to creatively solve problems and produce meaningful, innovative and exciting designs and marketing materials aimed to communicate across multiple generational audiences and sectors.

I am fully versed in the Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Suite including PowerPoint, with the additional benefit four years of social media marketing and events management.

I am well-organised, creative and extremely driven individual who loves working as part of team or individually and am used to fast-paced and multitasking style of work.

I have always loved creating things, even from a young age.

My creative journey began with a deep passion for theatre and film set design. I dedicated my early career to working behind the scenes for theatres across the UK, crafting costumes, building sets, designing props, and orchestrating lighting—bringing stories to life on stage.

While I thrived on the creativity, the unpredictable nature of seasonal theatre work led me to further my education. I studied Art and Design at the Kent Institute of Art & Design (now the University for the Creative Arts) before completing a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design at Bath Spa University. This transition opened doors to new opportunities, allowing me to blend artistic vision with strategic design principles.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with both large and boutique design firms across diverse creative sectors, including print, digital services, and animation. These experiences enriched my knowledge and reinforced my passion for the dynamic and ever-evolving creative industries.

In 2010, I embarked on an exciting dual role: joining Canterbury Christ Church University as a sessional lecturer while founding OhhhKaye, my freelance branding and graphic design business. I thrived on the unpredictability and variety of freelance life—each project brought new challenges and new clients, from passionate small business owners to larger organizations. My portfolio grew to include collaborations with brands such as Mack Multiples, Bottle Bazaar, Endometriosis UK, She Trust UK, Fujitsu, MBA House, and Kent Wildlife Trust, among others. I loved helping businesses shape their identities, creating meaningful branding that captured their unique stories and vision.

In 2019, I was presented with a new opportunity to return to full-time employment. Although it was a difficult decision, I embraced the challenge, stepping into a role that allowed me to grow and evolve further. Today, as a Creative Lead within a School Trust’s Marketing and Design team, I have discovered a new passion for education and apprenticeships. The role combines creativity, leadership, and the reward of shaping a team—bringing both innovation and purpose to the work I do each day.

Say hello!

Mindful, creative and growth mindset, always.

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to create and inspire creativity in others.

Starting in theatre design, I found myself fascinated on how art and design could be found across many forms communication and decided to explore this further by studying in Graphic design at Bath Spa University. As a dyslexic, I truly believe a picture paints a thousand words and approach each protect and brief with this in mind. During my studies, I discovered a passion for digital media, animation and branding that I am forever grateful has turned into my career to date.

Throughout my career I have worked with clients around the world, embracing not only my love of travel, but the chance to creating exciting new brands or refreshing existing brands in multiple sectors and across different cultures.

I love supporting independent business of all sizes, alongside the big boy clients, allowing my skill set to become varied and very much in demand. I also love to learn and have pushed my own skills in the last few years and stepped into the world of AR (Augmented Reality), gamification and even the metaverse.

Every project I undertake is led from a place of empathy, honesty and commitment. I am passionate mentor who enjoys facilitating and encouraging others to grow and develop at all stages of the careers. I have a happy, can do attitude, love a good cat gif and a giggle and jump into every challenge with enthusiasm and energy.

I love what I do and strongly believe we grow and better ourselves and others with new challenges and opportunities.

Outside of my art and design life, I love to travel, drive my convertible mini (called Audrey), my cat Ziggy and have long walk with my husband and our neighbours dog. I also practice and run yoga and mindfulness classes.

I am currently studying towards my 200 hours Yoga teaching qualification and am due to start a short diploma Mindful Art in September 2024 alongside a mental health first aid course.

Alongside my design work, I also love creating fine art canvas and prints as well as small runs of illustrated clothing and house wears (check out my shop - launching July 2024). Another HUGE passion piece for me is raising awareness of endometriosis. I created OhhhEndo comic and work three UK leading Endometriosis charities.
